Background Information / history:
The only child of rather legendary soldier James Shepard and decorated armed response Police Officer Roxanne Shepard, John was expected to be a man of action. As a young child he seemed to be heading in this direction when, in an accident, a fishing hook got stuck in his skin, just bellow his left eye. The blood from the wound got in his eye and blinded him, making everything seem red. It was this experience that gave him his crippling fear of blood and made him turn away from the path his parents expected of him.
Instead John began to focus on his studies and it was soon discovered that he was a natural prodigy, being gifted with an incredibly analytical mind that could figure out, in five minutes, the answer to a problem faster than someone his own age who was given an hour. It is this incredible mind that has kept John alive in this new world, where blood is around every corner.
